Blood Cells > PBMCs

BIOMEX provides high‑quality human PBMCs sourced from both healthy and disease‑state donors, processed under rigorously controlled conditions. They are suitable for a wide range of translational and preclinical research applications, including biomarker discovery, assay development, and immunology studies.
For available donor data details see below.
Samples are available from banked inventory or can be collected prospectively based on defined criteria.
Both approaches ensure high-quality PBMC material aligned with regulatory and ethical requirements.
Our experts will review your request and provide an overview of available PBMC samples from patients or healthy donors, along with information on feasibility and an estimated timeline.
Cell Count(s): Diesease state: 5 Mio or 10 Mio cells/vial. Healthy: 10,20, 50 or 100 Mio cells/vial.
Collection source: Whole blood or apheresis.
Hematology analysis: Quantification of total leukocytes, erythrocytes, platelets, differential white blood cell populations (neutrophils, lymphocytes, monocytes), and calculated PBMC counts is performed using a Sysmex XN‑330.
Cell viability: High post‑thaw viability (>90%) for healthy donor PBMCs using standardized cryopreservation; disease‑state samples may show biological variability.
Anticoagulant: Sodium citrate 3,2%.
Cryopreservation: CryoStor CS10 or FCS.
Depending on the requested PBMCs and study requirements, the following donor information and sample characterization data can be provided:
Donor demographics: Age, sex, ethnicity, smoking status.
Serology: HIV, HBs-Ag, HCV.
Immunogenetics: 6-digit resolution HLA Class I and Class II characterization, and FCGR3A polymorphism status (on demand).
Clinical background: Diagnosis and disease indication (ICD-10), concomitant medications, treatment and disease status, allergies, relevant comorbidities or additional diseases.
All data are provided in accordance with ethical approvals, informed consent, and applicable data protection regulations.
The publications below illustrate the application of our products in research settings.
Based in Heidelberg, Germany, BIOMEX ships biospecimens worldwide using compliant, temperature‑controlled logistics.
BIOMEX operates an ISO 9001:2015–certified quality management system, audited regularly to ensure compliance and operational excellence.
All biospecimen collections follow GCP, GLP, and GDPR requirements, with full Ethics Committee / IRB approval.
Disease‑state donors are clinically characterized through diagnoses confirmed by our partner physicians using validated diagnostic procedures, supported by medical history and relevant clinical parameters. Available donor metadata may include diagnosis (e.g., ICD‑10 code), treatment history, and disease‑specific clinical scores, depending on indication.
Our cryopreserved PBMCs are processed using standardized workflows to support strong post‑thaw viability and reliable downstream performance; disease‑state material may show biological variability driven by indication and prior treatment.
All biospecimens are collected under Ethics Committee/IRB‑approved protocols with informed consent, and are handled in alignment with GCP, GLP, and GDPR requirements.
Yes. Where available, PBMCs from healthy donors can be supplied from the same donor across multiple aliquots or collections to support experimental reproducibility and longitudinal study designs. Pooled or matched donor sets may also be available depending on study requirements.
Disease‑state PBMCs are available in cryopreserved formats across a range of cell counts and aliquot sizes. Custom options - including donor criteria, disease indication, collection source (e.g. whole blood or apheresis), and metadata depth - may be supported upon request.
