Cerebrospinal Fluid (CSF)

Access high-quality CSF samples:

  • Prospective collection across neurodegenerative
  • IRB/EC-approved & fully consented prospective sample collection in Germany
  • Detailed clinical data incl. donor demographics, ICD-code & treatment status/medication
  • Matched CSF/serum samples available from the same donor
  • Banked remnant inventory incl. analytical test results & diagnostic disease profile
  • Pooled samples available from banked inventory

Request banked high-quality CSF samples

Submit a request to access available CSF from our banked sample inventory.

The request should include key project details, such as:

  • Donor options: healthy or disease-state
  • Need for informed consent
  • Sample type: consented, remnant or pooled
  • Number of unique donors
  • Total volume (mL)
  • Donor characteristics (e.g., inclusion/exclusion criteria, demographics, indication/diagnosis)
  • Disease-specific data (e.g., MMSE, Hoehn & Yahr scale, UPDRS)
  • Additional information (e.g., matched sets, analyte test results, timelines and disease/treatment history)

Receive an inventory list of available CSF after submitting the form and schedule a meeting with our team to discuss the next steps.

If samples are not available, tailored prospective CSF can be explored.

Consented samples:

Volume: 1 -4 mL.
Collection source: CSF from hospitals/specialist practices/medical care centers (MVZ).
Collection process: A standardized workflow covering CSF collection and storage ensures consistently high and reproducible sample quality. Samples are collected with informed consent, fully anonymized, and accompanied by extensive clinical data and history. Matched whole blood samples (serum, K2‑EDTA, sodium‑citrate) are serologically tested using CE‑approved assays. Additional analytical testing is available upon request. Prospective collections for neurodegenerative diseases are performed exclusively for diagnostic confirmation.
Storage: -80 °C.

Remnant (leftover) samples:

Volume:  1 mL.
Collection source:  Clinical centers.
Collection process: Fully standardized, high sample quality, anonymized, wide range of test results and laboratory findings.
Storage: -20 °C to -80 °C.

Pooled samples:

Volume: 1 mL up to bulk.
Collection source: Clinical centers.
Collection process: FFully standardized, high sample quality, anonymized. Analytical testing is available.
Storage: -20 °C to -80 °C.

Depending on the requested CSF and study requirements, the following donor information and sample characterization data can be provided:

Consented samples:

Donor demographics: Age, sex, ethnicity, smoking & alcoholic status.
Serology: anti-HIV1/2, HBsAg, anti-HCV and other analytical testing available.
Clinical background: Diagnosis and disease indication (ICD-10), concomitant medications, treatment and disease status, relevant comorbidities or additional diseases. Customization options to individual requirements.

All data are provided in accordance with ethical approvals, informed consent, and applicable data protection regulations.

Inconsented samples:

Donor demographics: Age, sex.
Serology: anti-HIV1/2, HBsAg, anti-HCV and other analytical testing available. Laboratory report with analytical test results & diagnostic disease profile of Alzheimer disease, multiple sclerosis, dementia, neuroinflammatory diseases and infectious diseases (Borrelia).
