Size/total volume: Max. 100 mL (diseased donors), max. 500 mL (healthy donors).
Collection sources: Healthy donors are collected from BIOMEX's own donor centers in Heidelberg and Munich. Disease-state blood samples are sourced from partner hospitals, specialist clinics, and medical care centers (MVZs).
Collection process: A continuously standardized workflow is followed: blood collection, centrifugation, processing (depending on product), and storage. High standards and reproducible sample quality with anonymized samples collected with informed consent and extensive clinical data and history. Serological testing is performed in-house using CE-approved assays, with additional analytical testing available depending on project requirements.
Anticoagulants: Serum, Sodium-Citrate, K2EDTA, K3EDTA, Streck, Lithium-Heparine, Sodium-Heparine, CPD(A).
Hematology analysis: Hematological cell counting profile on request. Performed using a Sysmex XN‑330 or XP-300.
Shipping: Delivery takes place within 24 hours in Central Europe.
Depending on the requested whole blood products and study requirements, the following donor information and sample characterization data can be provided:
Donor demographics: Age, gender, ethnicity, smoking and alcoholic status, height, weight, use of specific vitamins or medications, menstrual cycle information for female donors, physical activity levels, and other relevant data of interest.
Serology: Anti-HIV, HBsAg, Anti-HCV, and other analytical testing available.
Clinical background: Diagnosis and disease indication (ICD-code), concomitant medications, treatment and disease status, allergies, relevant comorbidities or additional diseases. Customization options to individual requirements.
All data are provided in accordance with ethical approvals, informed consent, and applicable data protection regulations.
